Ministry
Fulfilling your ministry 2
Col 4:17 And tell Archippus, "Be sure to finish the task you were given in the Lord's service." Good News Translation
Too many people are looking for big things to do for God in order to fulfill their ministries.
Your ministry can be defined also as any task which you have been given in the lords service. If you are a member of a local church and you have been given a task to oversee the sunday school that is the ministry which the lord wants you to fulfill.
Many times people runaway from tasks which they are given because they feel that, that is not what God has called them to do. They say things like, 'i am not fulfilled doing this work.'
It is important for you to know that God will test your faithfulness in things that may not be appealing to you before he trusts you with things that may be appealing.
The place to start fulfilling your ministry is finding out from your spiritual leaders what tasks they have for you in God's house.
Paul's Experience
When Jesus appeared to Saul of Tarsus, one of the instructions which He gave Saul was to go to Ananais who would tell him what to do. Saul had asked Jesus what Jesus wanted him to do,
Acts 9:6
'And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.'
God most times will test your submission to authorities he has placed over you before He would release you into the fulness of what He has for you.
While Saul was praying the Lord Jesus gave Ananias instructions for Saul. This is God's pattern.
Many times we do not realise that before God releases you into the fulness of His purpose He would first place you under people who He wants you to take instructions from.
Your faithfulness in doing what you are told is key to your promotion. Your pastor holds a revelation concerning your future if you will learn to submit yourself to him. Jesus has given that revelation into his hands. That revelation is not in your hands. You may be full of zeal as a result of your encounter with Jesus yet it does not imply that you have the revelations of the fulness of His plans for you. Zeal without knowledge is deadly and this is what is affecting many young ministers today. They are unwilling to go to their ananais and listen to what Ananais has to say to them because they have seen Jesus face to face. Humility is key to promotion and God will always test you faithfulness to men he places over your lives to see what you will do with their instructions before He promotes you.
Saul who became Paul, straight way began to preach Christ after spending time with Ananais.
Ananais opened his eyes by laying on of hands and helped him to see the reason why God saved him and encouraged him to begin to preach the
gospel.
Acts 9:20
And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God
Your Ananais may just want you to pour water into his hands like Elisha did to Elijah or may just want you to be his servant like Joshua did to Moses;
You must be willing and ready to wait on your service until the time appointed by the Lord.
There are too many people today runing around in an attempt to fulfill their ministries whereas they are supposed to be serving under an Ananais
or Elijah.
The first phase of every calling is service. God always wants you to serve first before you can lead.
He that will be the head among you let him be your servant first.
Luke 22:26
But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve
